Son of King Edward the Elder, King Edred took up the reign in 946 and stayed until his death. His leadership was known for being of the religious sort. He preferred to lean on the church when it came to his rule and felt it was the best way to go as that is what God intended for him and his leadership.
This remained the same until the day he died.
It is also important to note; he died from poor health which led him to fatigue easily and eventually get to a point where he was unable to sit up.
