Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended a reception hosted by Britain’s King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on Sunday with other world leaders.
King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla hosted the reception for presidents, prime ministers and monarchs from around the world.
Hasina was accompanied by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana.
About 500 guests attended the reception.
The new King Charles, joined by Queen Consort Camilla, welcomed world leaders, foreign royals and dignitaries who traveled to Britain for the state funeral on Monday.
Other members of the Royal Family including Prince William, Kate, Prince Edward, Sophie Wessex, Princess Anne, her husband Vice Admiral Tim Laurence and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester also attended the event .
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to the UK, Saida Muna Tasneem, told reporters that the prime minister had a long talk with the new king and queen consort.
She said they remembered the late Queen Elizabeth.
According to Muna, the Prime Minister said Queen Elizabeth was not only the mother of the new King Charles, she was also a mother figure to her.
Hasina congratulated the new king.
Muna said the king and queen consort both expressed regret that their planned visit to Bangladesh in October had to be postponed.
The High Commissioner quoted Camilla as saying she intended to visit Sylhet and the Sunderbans.
She said the Prime Minister of Bangladesh exchanged greetings with his counterparts from the UK, Canada and New Zealand, the Queen of the Netherlands, the Presidents of India and Nepal and others world leaders.
Earlier on Sunday morning, Hasina and her younger sister Rehana traveled to the Palace of Westminster to pay their last respects to the late Queen where the body of Elizabeth II was kept in state of repose.
Hasina arrived in London on an official visit to the UK on September 15 to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
